Palcam Agar Base is used with supplements as a selective and differential medium for the detection and isolation of Listeria monocytogenes from food and environmental samples. Palcam Agar Base is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Palcam Agar was developed by Van Netten et al in 1989 as an improved selective differential medium for the isolation of Listeria monocytogenes from food and environmental specimens. Improved selectivity is achieved by the combination of antibiotic supplements and microaerobic incubation. The double indicator system of esculin hydrolysis and mannitol fermentation aids differentiation of Listeria spp from enterococci and staphylococci which can be confused with Listeria spp on other types of culture media. Palcam Agar is listed within Annex E of ISO 11290-1:2017 as a suitable second selective agar.

Tryptic Soy Broth, Modified with Novobiocin is used for the selective enrichment of enterohemorrhagic E. coli in foods in a laboratory setting. Tryptic Soy Broth, Modified with Novobiocin is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. The first major outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 was in 1982 and traced to contaminated hamburgers. Other known sources of infection include sprouts, lettuce, salami, unpasteurized milk, juice and/or swimming in or drinking contaminated water. Tryptic Soy Broth, Modified with Novobiocin is used to enrich food samples suspected of having low levels of EHEC during pathogen testing.

The body and cap of our Detectamark Permanent Marker are moulded from high-density polyethylene, containing a non-toxic metal detectable additive. This compound can be detected by correctly calibrated in-line metal detection systems. The Detectamark features Sureflow ink, meaning the pen will continue to write for several days, even if the cap is left off. This alcohol-based ink will permanently mark most surfaces, including wood, plastic, glass, concrete, and clean or printed metals.

Available in blue, black, red, and green ink in bullet nib with a multi coloured pack also available.

Blue and black ink are available in the fine tip nib.
