Lauryl Tryptose (LST) Broth is used for the detection of coliform bacteria in water and wastewater. Lauryl Tryptose Broth is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Lauryl Tryptose Broth is a selective medium for the detection of coliforms in water, dairy products and other foods. The American Public Health Authority (APHA) recommend Lauryl Tryptose Broth for the Most Probable Number Presumptive Test of coliforms in waters, effluent or sewage and as a confirmation test of lactose fermentation with gas production from milk samples and for the detection of coliforms in foods. Lauryl Tryptose Broth is prepared according to the formulation of Mallmann and Darby. Mallmann and Darby showed that tryptose at a concentration of 2% increased the early logarithmic growth phase when compared to meat peptone.

These researchers added phosphate buffers and sodium chloride, which improved gas production by "slow lactose fermenting" organisms. Sodium lauryl sulfate was incorporated as a selective agent for the inhibition of non-coliform organisms. This medium can also be used with the addition of MUG (4- methylumbelliferyl-β-D-glucuronide) according to the ISO Standard 11866-2 to give enhanced detection of Escherichia coli.

Tryptone No. 1 is an enzymatic digest of casein and meat for use in preparing microbiological culture media in a laboratory setting. Tryptone No. 1 is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Tryptone No. 1 is an enzymatic digest of casein and meat used as a nitrogen source in culture media. Casein is the main protein of milk, and a rich source of amino-acid nitrogen. Tryptone No. 1 is rich in tryptophane, making it valuable for use in detecting indole production. The absence of detectable levels of carbohydrates in Tryptone makes it a suitable peptone in differentiating bacteria on the basis of their ability to ferment various carbohydrates. Several media containing Tryptone are specified in standard methods for multiple applications.
  • Triple layer for maximum robustness and durability
  • High sight line of 857 mm (33.7”) for enhanced visibility.
  • Sash Angled Front with a 5° slope minimizes glares and reflections and allows users to work further into the hood without strain
  • The unique Hot Zone Baffle design draws most contaminants back in single pass displacement of the air - thermal heat relief is quickly achieved.
  • Multiple worktop options allow more applications to be done, standard worktop is phenolic resin options include: Epoxy resin, Ceramic, SS 304, SS 316
  • Isocide™ Antimicrobial Powder Coating eliminates 99.9% of surface bacteria within 24 hours of exposure

Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (with Lecithin & Tween) is used for the isolation of fungi from surfaces sanitised with quaternary ammonium compounds in a laboratory setting. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (with Lecithin & Tween) is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) is a modification of Dextrose Agar described by Sabouraud. SDA is used for cultivating pathogenic and commensal fungi and yeasts. The high dextrose concentration and acidic pH of the formula permits selectivity of fungi. The addition of Lecithin and Tween to Sabouraud Dextrose Agar is used to neutralize antiseptics and disinfectants for environmental monitoring and other applications. Complete neutralization of disinfectants is important. Disinfectant carryover can cause false no-growth test results.
