EC Broth

£774.99 vat excl.

£929.99 vat Inc.

Availability: Out of stock
EC Broth is used for the detection of coliform bacteria at 37°C and Escherichia coli at 44.5°C. EC Broth is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. EC Broth ( Escherichia coli Broth) is a selective enrichment broth designed for the isolation of coliforms, including E. coli, from water and food samples. It was the recommended medium of the American Public Health Association (APHA) and the AOAC. EC Broth is made selective for coliforms by the inclusion of Bile Salts in the dehydrated medium. The selective nature of this medium ensures that the growth of non-coliform bacteria is minimized. The medium is buffered by the addition of potassium phosphates and osmotically balanced by sodium chloride. The medium is used at 37°C for coliform organisms and 44.5°C is recommended for the isolation E. coli.
  • Taller work zone and horizontal sliding sash provide easy access during loading and setting up of titration equipment inside the enclosure
  • Elongated height to accommodate a typical 50 ml burette, a 500 ml flask and a magnetic stirrer
  • Epoxy worktop is resistant to most acids and bases used in Titration
  • Main Filter: Nanocarb™ Activated carbon, available in 8 types
  • Efficient perimeter clamping ensures no leakage as well as allows easy filter change procedure.
  • Sample Port - For manual determination of filter saturation through colour tubes
  • Filter ID window - to easily determine the type of carbon filter installed in the unit
  • Isocide™ Antimicrobial Powder Coating eliminates 99.9% of surface bacteria within 24 hours of exposure

LB Agar - Miller - 500 g

£110.65 vat excl.

£132.78 vat Inc.

Availability: Out of stock
LB Agar (Miller), a nutritionally rich medium designed for growth of pure cultures of recombinant strains, is based on the formulation described by Miller. E. coli is grown to late log phase in LB Medium. Some plasmid vectors replicate to a high copy number and do not require selective amplification. Some vectors do not replicate so freely and need to be selectively amplified. Chloramphenicol may be added to inhibit host synthesis and prevent replication of the bacterial chromosome. LB Agar, Miller contains 10 g/L of sodium chloride, different from the levels in Lennox formulations. This allows the researcher to select the optimal salt concentration for a specific strain. The medium may be aseptically supplemented with glucose or antibiotics.

Neogen® Swab-Sampler with 1 mL Letheen Broth is a convenient and quick collection device for environmental sampling and testing over small surface areas.

Sample collection is easy with the attached swab. The vial provides ample headspace for sample addition and vortexing to release organisms from the swab. This sampling device is decontaminated through gamma irradiation for long shelf life. The Neogen® Swab-Sampler is made in the USA with globally sourced materials. The Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) is a systematic, preventive approach to food safety that identifies, evaluates, and controls hazards that are significant for food safety, is the most widely accepted food safety management protocol worldwide. Sample collection products from Neogen® are a crucial part of this approach to identify potential food-borne hazards and pinpoint where they reside. Portability, stable enrichment media, and easy-to-handle swabs and sponges are designed to test for a wide variety of potential hazards and deliver accurate results. They are engineered to safely gather, hold, and secure contents from the collection site to the lab without leaking or compromising the sample.

The primary use of Letheen Broth is to neutralise the bactericidal action of quaternary ammonium compounds and for determining the phenol coefficient of cationic surfactants. Letheen Broth is also used in hygiene swabbing practices where neutralizing quaternary ammonium compounds are required.

Esco Frontier® Acela™ XP (EFA-XP) is an explosion-proof ducted fume hood that provides the highest level of chemical containment and almost no possibility of sparks in the work zone.* This laboratory containment device is suitable for applications or rooms which have the presence of highly flammable or explosive gases and vapours, especially in the Oil & Gas industries.

*Disclaimer: The Frontier Acela® XP ducted fume hood is not designed or independently tested to comply to any Explosion-Proof Rating Standards such as ATEX/IECex at system level. If required, the user is responsible for certification of the fume hood according to the ATEX/IECex rating.

*This cabinet requires an external blower (sold separately)
