The Hygiena EndoSwab is a specialized sample collection device for ATP testing in endoscope channels. Designed for healthcare infection control programs, it features a foam tip on a long, flexible wand to access hard-to-reach lumens of 4mm diameter. Simply insert, withdraw, and cut the foam tip into an UltraSnap® or SuperSnap® device for immediate results on EnSURE® Touch or SystemSURE Plus luminometers. Get objective cleaning verification in 10-15 seconds with pre-established RLU thresholds, helping prevent the use of contaminated reusable medical instruments. Hygiena® EndoSwab sampling devices are used to collect samples from hard-to-reach internal channels of reusable medical instruments like endoscopes to verify thorough cleaning. EndoSwab is designed to be used in conjunction with UltraSnap® or SuperSnap® ATP test devices and EnSURE® Touch or SystemSURE Plus® luminometers. This system measures adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the universal energy molecule found in all animal, plant, bacterial, yeast and mold cells. Blood and other biohazard waste contain large amounts of ATP. When ATP is brought into contact with the unique liquid-stable luciferase/luciferin reagent in the ATP test device, light is emitted in direct proportion to the amount of ATP present. Hygiena luminometers measure the amount of light generated in Relative Light Units (RLUs). The result provides information on the level of ATP left behind after cleaning to ensure cleaning procedures are effective. After cleaning, all sources of ATP should be significantly reduced

Clostridium Difficile Agar Base (Brazier’s) is used with blood, Cycloserine, and Cefoxitin for the isolation of Clostridium difficile. Clostridium Difficile is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Brazier’s CCEY agar is the formulation currently used by the Anaerobe Reference Unit for the isolation of C. difficile, resulting from work initiated by Ken Phillips and Paul Levett, and completed by Jon Brazier. Based upon the market leading anaerobe medium, Fastidious Anaerobe Agar, it incorporates additional ingredients to improve the isolation and differentiation of C. difficile from samples. Cholic acid is present to promote spore germination following alcohol shock treatment, and p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid to enhance the production of p-cresol, a distinctive metabolite of C. difficile. Selectivity is achieved by addition of supplement X093 (cefoxitin cycloserine) and egg yolk emulsion X075 is added to help differentiate C. difficile from lecithinase positive clostridia. Finally, the addition of lysed horse blood optimizes the recognition of colony fluorescence when cultures are examined using UV light.

Buffered Listeria Enrichment Broth - 500 g

£81.07 vat excl.

£97.28 vat Inc.

Availability: Out of stock
Buffered Listeria Enrichment Broth is used for selective enrichment of Listeria spp and is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Listeria monocytogenes, described first in 1926 by Murray, Webb, and Swann, is an extensive problem in public health and food industries. Evidence from outbreaks of listeriosis has indicated that the principle route of transmission is via consumption of foodstuffs contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Implicated vehicles of transmission include turkey, frankfurters, coleslaw, pasteurized milk, Mexican style cheese, and pate. Listeria spp. are ubiquitous in nature, being present in a wide range of unprocessed foods as well as in soil, sewage, and river water. Buffered Listeria Enrichment Broth, a modification of the formula by Lovett et al., was developed after subsequent work concluded that enrichment properties can be improved by increasing the buffering capacity of the medium with the addition of Disodium Phosphate. Listeria spp. grow over a pH range of 5.0 - 9.6, and survive in food products with pH levels outside these parameters. Listeria spp. are microaerophilic, Gram-positive, asporogenous, non-encapsulated, non-branching, short, motile rods. Motility is pronounced at 20°C. Identification of Listeria is based on successful isolation of the organism, biochemical characterization, and serological confirmation.

Fraser Broth Base is used with Acriflavin, Nalidixic Acid, and Ferric Ammonium Citrate for the selective enrichment of Listeria spp. Fraser Broth Base is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Formulated according to MLG Appendix 1.09 (for the ISO 11290 formulation please use NCM0001). Listeria monocytogenes, described first in 1926 by Murray, Webb, and Swann, is an extensive problem in public health and food industries. This organism has the ability to cause human illness and death, particularly in immunocompromised individuals and pregnant women. Epidemiological evidence from outbreaks of listeriosis indicated the principle route of transmission is via the consumption of foodstuffs contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Implicated vehicles of transmission include turkey frankfurters, coleslaw, pasteurized milk, Mexican style cheese and pate. Half Fraser (Demi Fraser) Broth Base is based on the formulation of Fraser and Sperber. This medium is used in rapid detection of Listeria from food and environmental samples. Listeria spp. grow over a pH range of 5.0 – 9.6, and survive in food products with pH levels outside these parameters. Listeria spp. are microaerophilic, Gram-positive, asporogenous, non-encapsulated, non-branching, short, motile rods. Motility is pronounced at 20°C.
