Gem Scientific Nutrient Agar with TTC (Red spot dye) and Wort Rose bengal Chloramphenicol agar. Most bacteria show up as red spots. Yeasts and moulds grow on the second side. For general use.
The media that Gem Scientific use is designed to not only provide you with the most accurate results but visually distinctive dependent on the product type and the level of bacteria found at the original testing location
Within each box of Gem Scientific dip slides is a handy comparison chart to demonstrate what level of contamination the tested area has. This is measured by the coverage of the media by the bacteria recovered from the sample or area tested. Regular testing is recommended to ensure your regimes are being maintained and bacteria levels are as low as possible.
Storage
Store in a cool dry place (Optimum 8-15oC) and use before the expiry date on the box. Do not use slides if there is any sign of growth before opening. Slides remain usable while the agar is smooth and attached to the slide. A small amount of water may collect at the bottom of the tube. This is condensate from the agar and does not affect performance, provided the agar still fills the tray.
Disposal
Used slides should be incinerated, autoclaved or soaked in disinfectant for several hours before disposal.
Our standard delivery is 3-5 working days (where products are available) Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays when you order by 2pm. Haz-Tab Tablets incorporate troclosene sodium (NaDCC) and when used with specialised diluters provide a simple and easy means of making up the correct strength of chlorine solution required for dealing with biohazard spillages, disinfecting laboratory jars and consumables and environmental disinfection.
Haz-Tab Tablets have been proven through independent EN Standard testing, carried out by a UKAS accredited laboratory, to have broad spectrum biocidal activity. Haz-Tab Tablets are effective against fungi, viruses, mycobacteria, bacteria, spores (including C.difficile) and certified with BS EN 1276, BS EN 13727, BS EN 14476, BS EN 13624, BS EN 13704, BS EN 17126, BS EN 13697, BS EN 14348, BS EN 16615.
Tip - Rayon: Rayon, also known as Viscose, is a processed form of cellulose and has been found to be particularly suitable for the recovery of microorganisms. The texture is similar to that of cotton, but it has none of the fatty acids or other substances that can be inhibitory to fastidious bacteria. It has also been shown to be compatible with many molecular based diagnostic tests. Rayon buds are used on most of our transport swabs.
Traditionally, the bud on the swab has consisted of a spun fibre such as cotton, rayon, polyester or calcium alginate wound round the end of the shaft which would be wood, plastic or wire. In recent years, novel bud materials have been introduced, such as soft cellular polyurethane foam, or flocked fibres which can give improved uptake and release of specimens. Medical Wire have extensive ranges of swabs utilising either spun fibres, cellular foam, or multifilament flock fibres, with something suitable for many applications.
Applications: Clinical microbiology, Veterinary, Genetics, Environmental Sampling, Forensic
