The media that Gem Scientific use is designed to not only provide you with the most accurate results but visually distinctive dependent on the product type and the level of bacteria found at the original testing location

Within each box of Gem Scientific dip slides is a handy comparison chart to demonstrate what level of contamination the tested area has. This is measured by the coverage of the media by the bacteria recovered from the sample or area tested. Regular testing is recommended to ensure your regimes are being maintained and bacteria levels are as low as possible.

Storage

Store in a cool dry place (Optimum 8-15oC) and use before the expiry date on the box. Do not use slides if there is any sign of growth before opening. Slides remain usable while the agar is smooth and attached to the slide. A small amount of water may collect at the bottom of the tube. This is condensate from the agar and does not affect performance, provided the agar still fills the tray.

Disposal

Used slides should be incinerated, autoclaved or soaked in disinfectant for several hours before disposal.

Fraser Broth Base

£2,027.90 vat excl.

£2,433.48 vat Inc.

Availability: Out of stock
Fraser Broth Base is used with Acriflavin, Nalidixic Acid, and Ferric Ammonium Citrate for the selective enrichment of Listeria spp. Fraser Broth Base is not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions in humans. Formulated according to MLG Appendix 1.09 (for the ISO 11290 formulation please use NCM0001). Listeria monocytogenes, described first in 1926 by Murray, Webb, and Swann, is an extensive problem in public health and food industries. This organism has the ability to cause human illness and death, particularly in immunocompromised individuals and pregnant women. Epidemiological evidence from outbreaks of listeriosis indicated the principle route of transmission is via the consumption of foodstuffs contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Implicated vehicles of transmission include turkey frankfurters, coleslaw, pasteurized milk, Mexican style cheese and pate. Half Fraser (Demi Fraser) Broth Base is based on the formulation of Fraser and Sperber. This medium is used in rapid detection of Listeria from food and environmental samples. Listeria spp. grow over a pH range of 5.0 – 9.6, and survive in food products with pH levels outside these parameters. Listeria spp. are microaerophilic, Gram-positive, asporogenous, non-encapsulated, non-branching, short, motile rods. Motility is pronounced at 20°C. Identification of Listeria spp. is based on successful isolation of the organism, biochemical characterization, and serological confirmation.

Maximum durability for the toughest tasks.

Our toughest wipe, built for solvent-resistant cleaning.

TOUGH is engineered for demanding applications where strength, absorbency, and resistance are essential. Designed to withstand aggressive cleaning processes, this wipe delivers high performance without tearing or excessive linting.

Tip - Foam: This soft sponge-like material has a regular cellular matrix. Uptake of microorganisms and other sample materials can be easily acquired from the area that’s being sampled. The structure of this swab bud allows for complete absorption & release of sample into transport media or reagents.

Traditionally, the bud on the swab has consisted of a spun fibre such as cotton, rayon, polyester or calcium alginate wound round the end of the shaft which would be wood, plastic or wire. In recent years, novel bud materials have been introduced, such as soft cellular polyurethane foam, or flocked fibres which can give improved uptake and release of specimens. Medical Wire have extensive ranges of swabs utilising either spun fibres, cellular foam, or multifilament flock fibres, with something suitable for many applications.
