Hygiena MicroSnap® Enterobacteriaceae (EB) are rapid tests for the detection and enumeration of Enterobacteriaceae bacteria. The test uses a novel bioluminogenic test reaction that generates light when enzymes that are characteristic of EB bacteria react with specialised substrates to produce light. The light-generating signal is then quantified in the EnSURE luminometer. Depending on the required level of detection, MicroSnap® EB is able to give results on the same day.

You will need to use both the Enrichment and Detection devices for the test to work.

MicroSnap® efficient design makes microorganism testing easier than ever. Each device's patented Snap-Valve holds a precise amount of specific enrichment broth, ready to be used for either product or surface samples. Within the enrichment device is a built-in pipette, enabling convenient and efficient transfer of the enriched sample to the detection device.

Bioluminogenic Test

MicroSnap® is a rapid bioluminogenic test method for the detection and enumeration of bacteria, giving actionable, same-day test results. The MicroSnap® test platform consists of an Enrichment Device containing a specific growth medium and a Detection Device containing a bioluminogenic (light-producing) substrate. When MicroSnap® detects the specific microorganism, light is emitted and measured with Hygiena's EnSURE luminometer. Results are stored and tracked with Hygiena's complimentary SureTrend software for further data analysis and trending.

For bespoke applications: Enhanced Nutrient Broth

Enhanced Nutrient Broth is one enrichment media for three MicroSnap® detection tests. Just add 1ml of sample to the 9ml volume and incubate! The broth volume makes Enhanced Nutrient Broth perfect for milk samples where the limit is

Same-day results.

The entire MicroSnap® test process is complete on the same day

  • Enumeration: Sample is collected and enriched at the beginning of the shift and incubated.
  • Presence/Absence: Sample is collected and enriched at the beginning of the shift and incubated.
  • Custom Applications: Faster results for higher detection limits. Contact us for instructions for your specific application.

Storage

Ultrasnap sampling devices must be refrigerated at 2-8 degrees C (35 – 46 °F). Sample devices should be left out at room temperature for 10 minutes before being used. They can withstand exposure to room temperature conditions (<25°C) for up to 4 weeks without compromising functionality.

Why choose MicroSnap?

Same Shift Results:

Rapid test results are essential to releasing product quickly. The MicroSnap® family of rapid indicator organism tests enables food safety and quality manager to enumerate samples in 6 hours and to determine presence/absence in 8 hours. Simply collect sample, incubate and read with a Hygiena® Luminometer.

Reduce Costs & Shorten Release Cycles:

While sending samples to the lab for PCR analysis can be necessary for a specific application, simpler more cost-effective solutions can supplement your testing protocols. Integrating MicroSnap® as a rapid indicator test within your testing protocol will reduce material cost, shipping costs and lab fees. Plus, a rapid test also means shorter production hold times and lower inventory holding costs, all leading to more cost savings.

Flexible & Easy-to-Use:

MicroSnap’s efficient design makes microorganism testing flexible and easy. It can be used for both surfaces and samples. Both options use a simple 2-step process: enrichment and detection. Plus, the patented Snap-Valve holds a precise amount of specific enrichment broth, ready to be used for either product or surface samples. Within the enrichment device is a built-in pipette, enabling convenient and efficient transfer of enriched samples to the detection device. The enriched sample is read on a Hygiena® luminometer, which means no tedious colony counting is necessary. Use the RLU to CFU conversion table to determine the outcome. Microorganism testing has never been easier.

Works with Filtered Samples:

MicroSnap® E. coli Enrichment Broth is available in a 2mL vial for use with large-volume filtered samples and delivers same-day results. Earlier results mean products can be released sooner; thus cutting inventory and warehouse costs for beverage processors. This method is AOAC approved and validated against the EPA method.

Complete Hygiena Monitoring Program:

MicroSnap® is an essential component within a complete environmental monitoring program. Combine MicroSnap® with the EnSURE® Touch and SureTrend® to capture and trend your test results over time. Use the SureTrend® dashboard to see how your ATP testing program impacts your microorganism testing and how the two work together to reduce your risk of a contamination event.

Sample collection is easy with Neogen® Swab-Samplers. The vial provides ample headspace for sample addition and vortexing to release organisms from the swab. In addition, this sampling device is decontaminated through gamma irradiation for long shelf life. The Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) approach is the most widely accepted food safety management protocol worldwide. Sample collection products from Neogen® are a crucial part of this approach to identify potential food-borne hazards and pinpoint where they reside. Portability, stable enrichment media, and easy-to-handle swabs and sponges are designed to test for a wide variety of potential hazards and deliver exceptionally accurate results. They are engineered to safely gather, hold, and secure contents from the collection site to the lab without leaking or compromising the sample.

The use of Neutralising Buffer is advised for surface testing for the presence of microorganisms that may occur on dairy and food equipment disinfected with chlorine or quaternary ammonium compounds. It is capable of inactivating the bactericidal and bacteriostatic effect of chlorine and quaternary ammonium composites. Neutralising these chemicals is crucial in accurately detecting the presence of potentially harmful microorganisms. Using Neutralising Buffer in the microbiological examination of surfaces in standard methods to test dairy products and foods.

D/E Neutralising Broth, developed by Dey and Engley, is used in disinfectant testing where neutralization of the antiseptics and disinfectants is important for determining its bactericidal activity. It is effective for neutralising a broad spectrum of disinfectants and preservative antimicrobial chemicals, such as ammonium compounds, phenolics, iodine, chlorine preparations, mercurials, formaldehyde, and glutaraldehyde. D/E Neutralising media will neutralize higher concentrations of residual antimicrobials than other standard neutralising formulations, such as Letheen media, Thioglycollate media, and Neutralising Buffe
