Surfaceskins kill germs in the vital seconds between one user and the next passing through the door via secretion of alcohol gel to the top surface when pressed by the user.
Surfaceskins work just like a normal door plate. When a user pushes open a door using the Surfaceskins pushpad, the contact surface releases a small quantity of the same type of alcohol gel as used in hospitals. This immediately self-disinfects the surface and reduces the risk of hand contamination of harmful bacteria to the next person to use the door.
Each time the Surfaceskins pad is pressed, the surface self-disinfects almost immediately, by releasing a small quantity of antibacterial gel via the micro-valved top sheet. Surfaceskins have been proven to achieve kill rates in SECONDS against E.Coli, Salmonella, S.Aureus, E.Faecalis over 7 days, during independent In-Vitro Trials.
Ethanol hand gels (which is the active ingredient in Surfaceskins) are proven effective against enveloped viruses, of which COVID-19 is one. The Surfaceskins door pushpads do not profess to clean hands, they are self-sterilising door plates to ensure you are always touching a clean surface. In this way, the volume of gel required is much less than what would be required to clean your hands fully.
Surfaceskins door pushpads have been tested to seven days use or 1000 activations (whichever occurs first), after this, they can be easily replaced with a new pad to ensure maximum protection.
A study published in the Journal of Hospital Infection (JOHI) shows the implementation of Surfaceskins INCREASES hand hygiene compliance & awareness.
Please Note: You will require one Holster per side of the door you wish to protect, they can be fitted in seconds and remain on the door for as long as desired. Push Pads are engineered to last 1000 activations or 1 week (whichever occurs first).
Surfaceskins are designed to kill deposited germs in SECONDS and provide a self-sterilising surface to protect every door user. Alternative silver and plastic-based products can take many hours to achieve a similar germ kill level.
The amount of gel released is very small at approx 0.07g which has been proven in repeated NHS Laboratory trials to be enough to self-disinfect the product where it was touched. To give a comparison; the volume of gel required to self-disinfect the Surfaceskin is 0.07g. A teaspoon of gel is 5.9g. So, in one teaspoon full of gel there is enough gel to disinfect a Surfaceskins product 80 times.
The reason the gel required is so low is because alcohol gel has what is called a high ‘residual effect’ meaning even a tiny amount of gel provides protection.
