Neogen® Swab-Sampler with 1 mL Letheen Broth is a convenient and quick collection device for environmental sampling and testing over small surface areas.

Sample collection is easy with the attached swab. The vial provides ample headspace for sample addition and vortexing to release organisms from the swab. This sampling device is decontaminated through gamma irradiation for long shelf life. The Neogen® Swab-Sampler is made in the USA with globally sourced materials. The primary use of Letheen Broth is to neutralise the bactericidal action of quaternary ammonium compounds and for determining the phenol coefficient of cationic surfactants. Letheen Broth is also used in hygiene swabbing practices where neutralizing quaternary ammonium compounds are required.

The body and cap of our Detectawipe Drywipe Marker are moulded from high-density polyethylene, containing a non-toxic metal detectable additive. This compound can be detected by correctly calibrated in-line metal detection systems. The Detectawipe features Drywipe ink suitable for use on whiteboards and other glossy surfaces that can be wiped clean with a cloth or tissue.

Available in blue, black, red, and green ink in bullet nib with a multi coloured pack also available.

Tip - Foam: This soft sponge-like material has a regular cellular matrix. Uptake of microorganisms and other sample materials can be easily acquired from the area that’s being sampled. The structure of this swab bud allows for complete absorption & release of sample into transport media or reagents.

Traditionally, the bud on the swab has consisted of a spun fibre such as cotton, rayon, polyester or calcium alginate wound round the end of the shaft which would be wood, plastic or wire. In recent years, novel bud materials have been introduced, such as soft cellular polyurethane foam, or flocked fibres which can give improved uptake and release of specimens. Medical Wire have extensive ranges of swabs utilising either spun fibres, cellular foam, or multifilament flock fibres, with something suitable for many applications.
