MWE have been manufacturing DRYSWAB™ for over 70 years. These are the fundamental tools used to collect specimens or samples for analysis, or simply to transfer materials during a diagnostic procedure.
Traditionally, the bud on the swab has consisted of a spun fibre such as cotton, rayon, polyester or calcium alginate wound round the end of the shaft which would be wood, plastic or wire. In recent years, novel bud materials have been introduced, such as soft cellular polyurethane foam, or flocked fibres which can give improved uptake and release of specimens. Medical Wire have extensive ranges of swabs utilising either spun fibres, cellular foam, or multifilament flock fibres, with something suitable for many applications.

GVS Mixed Cellulose Esters (MCE) Filtration Membrane is an unsupported, hydrophilic membrane. Its rapid flow rate and high throughput make it ideal for use in bioburden and sterility testing.
GVS MCE Filtration Membranes are composed of a mixture of inert cellulose nitrate and cellulose acetate polymers. The uniform microporous structure of these filters provides the fastest flow rates and highest throughputs available in a membrane filter. They are hydrophilic with a noncytotoxic wetting agent and yield extractable levels of less than 4% of their weight. These membranes are autoclavable at 121∞C (250∞F) for 20 minutes. Sterilised product lifetime is 24 months from sterilisation date.
High flow rate: fast filtration rates
Uniform pore structure: consistent flow and diffusion rates
Lot-to-lot consistency
