The Leeds based company has acquired the UKAS accredited balance and scales specialist Northern Balance who will become part of the Gem Group with immediate effect. This is the second acquisition Gem have made within the past twelve months. The acquisition of Northern Balance, established in 1971, allows Gem Scientific to consolidate and expand the capability of its calibration business, providing a competitive edge whilst offering a greater range of services and support to its customer base throughout the UK. Northern Balance is the leading independent UKAS accredited balance and scales specialists in the North providing core solutions for the supply, service, calibration and repair of weighing equipment. Northern Balance is a UKAS accredited calibration laboratory, one of the few companies to attain this high standard for on-site calibration of non-automatic weighing machines.  UKAS accreditation is a reflection of the competence, impartiality and integrity of the business, assuring clients they will receive the highest quality of service.
