Neogen® Clean-Trace™ Water Plus - Free ATP Swabs (formerly 3M) are designed to rapidly assess equipment cleaning processes and the efficiency of Clean in Place (CIP) procedures. The test gives an objective indication of cleanliness in water samples in seconds. Total ATP and Free ATP are two different measurements of ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is a molecule that serves as the main energy source for cells. Total ATP measures all forms of ATP present in a sample, including ATP bound to proteins and cellular debris. Free ATP measures only the free, unbound form of ATP in a sample.
The device swab contains sample collection rings that are coated with a unique agent to aid in the efficient collection and processing of a sample. Once the swab is activated, the results are measured in the Neogen® Clean-Trace™ LM1 Hygiene Monitoring and Management System provided in Relative Light Units (RLU). By working in real-time, food and beverage producers can test rinse waters after each CIP cycle and re-clean immediately if results warrant it.
